THE MAN WHO NEEDED A WIFE

THE MAN WHO NEEDED A WIFE
By Jesse Laycock

Once there was man who needed a wife desperately. His name was James. So he decided to go half-way around the United States of America, and then into the Deep South.

Before that, he had gone to Japan and only found computer and technology geeks. China was the same. Germany was too mild and not enough beer drinking parties. Finally, he stopped in France and there was WAY too much smooching. but he  loved it

But the place he liked the best was the U.S.A. And he liked Amarillo, Texas best. Lots of cowgirls….exactly what he wanted. Not too wild, but they did love to drink   beer and go out with their families. Picnic’s is what they said, but I liked that a lot.

So one day he went to the local rodeo show to do something fun so then when he took his seat on the old, wooden stands he sat next to a pretty blonde cowgirl. As he sat down a roar came up from the crowd because a bull flipped the rider off and the women next to him jumped up in amazement, in the process of doing that, the cowgirl spilled his beer with her foot as she jumped up and down.

“Oh my goodness! I’m SO sorry! Here, let me help you clean that up,” she said.

“Thanks a lot m’am,” said James.

“Do you want another beer?” she said. “Sure,” he replied.

Soon afterwards, they had introduced themselves to each other. Her name was Dallas Bronson. They had lots of stuff in common, like they both liked to drink beer, go cow-tip-in’, and go to church on Sunday.

“Well, it’s been nice talking to ya,” James said. “My ma’s making taters, corn, and fried chicken tonight, and I don’t think there are enough people in that house to eat all of it. Would ya like to come over and eat some dinner with us?”

“I’d be delighted!!!!” she joyfully said. “What time?”

“Six o’clock. At the old Baker house down on Maple Road in Jacksonville, Tennessee,” he said. “Don’t be late for dinner!”

Man, James thought to himself, I never thought I’d find such a purty and nice woman out here so close to my home. And to think, I thought I’d find her somewhere else in the world!!!! And he laughed at himself.

So they became real good friends, and they liked each other so much, they got engaged. In June, they got married in a barn with the birds singing outside of the hayloft window. For the reception they had fireworks shooting off in the background as they ate Corn on the cob and danced to honky-tonk music and country.

And they lived happily ever after……..
